The Prince of Pavon

Some boys need to find their daddy.

“And day by day I come to understand that he is popular with my men, not just because he is beautiful and not just because most of them want to join me in fucking him, as I do every night as the moon lights the way towards the jiggling muscled globes of his ass.

“He is popular because he is a leader. He listens to the men of my crew and remembers their names and learns their stories just as I have myself all these years. He finds ways to make them laugh, rubs their sore shoulders at the end of a hard-worked task, and learns to set fishing lines when we anchor at night, while only taking a small share of each catch. He finds and adopts whichever daily tasks he can achieve, and he completes them quickly and efficiently. He learns to climb the rigging, and is agile and fast, nerveless at the height of the mast, where he proves a capable lookout with a strong understanding of what he sees – steering us clear of rock and reef and storm. The men notice these things, and grow to respect him more than they ever imagined they would. They hadn’t, and I hadn’t, imagined the prince as a beautiful workhorse.

“He isn’t a shooting star. He is a glorious and endless full moon.”
